We Value Your Safety

  • 911 Dialing requires activation

  • Either Basic 911 or Enhanced 911 is available to most customers.

  • 911 Dialing is included in all plans.

  • Service does not function during broadband or power outages.

CVN Provides 911

At CVN, we provide a safe and reliable means of communication in times of emergency. CVN 911 Dialing service operates differently than traditional 911, and because we value your safety, you'll just have to fill out a short form during the sign up process that tells us the street address where you will be using your CVN service.

Activating 911 Service

  • You will register your initial location of use when you subscribe to the Service. This process can take several hours, and you will receive a confirmation email once 911 Dialing has been activated for your initial location or for a newly registered location.

  • You must register with CVN the physical location where you will utilize CVN phone service for each phone line.

  • Also note that if you move your device to another location, you must register your new location. Just log into the your Online Account and follow the instructions. If you do not register your new location, any 911 call you make may be sent to an emergency center near your old location.

  • Regardless of what address you register for a WiFi or SoftPhone, emergency calls you make from these devices will be routed to the CVN emergency response center.

Basic 911

Customers in locations where the emergency center is not equipped to receive your telephone number and address have basic 911. With basic 911, the local emergency operator answering the call will not have your call back number or your exact location, so you must be prepared to give them this information. Until you give the operator your phone number, he/she may not be able to call you back or dispatch help if the call is not completed or is not forwarded, is dropped or disconnected, or if you are unable to speak. As additional local emergency centers become capable of receiving our customers' information, CVN will automatically upgrade customers with basic 911 to E911 service. CVN will not give you notice of the upgrade.

Enhanced 911 (E911)

With E911 service, when you dial 911, your telephone number and registered address is simultaneously sent to the local emergency center assigned to your location, and emergency operators have access to the information they need to send help and call you back if necessary.

Softphone

Due to the portable nature of SoftPhone, your 911 calls will be routed to the CVN emergency call center. Emergency personnel do not receive your phone number or physical location when your 911 call is routed to the CVN national emergency call center. You must provide emergency personnel with your phone number and physical location.

Service Limitations

In certain situations, customers may not have access to 911 services. You will not have service:

  • In the event of service outage with your broadband provider.

  • In the event of a power outage.

  • If your broadband, ISP or CVN phone service is terminated.

  • If there are technical or capacity problems, or your information was not properly updated CVN will attempt to route your 911 call to an emergency call center and proceed to contact an appropriate emergency dispatch center in order to send you help. Please be prepared to give personnel your name, telephone number and physical location. Emergency personnel will not receive your phone number or physical location when your 911 call is routed to an emergency call center.
